President's letter:

It's hard to believe the season is almost over and Nationals is only a few weeks away. After Nationals each rink will take a break before beginning practices for the 2008-2009 season. How long that break will be may vary among our three rinks. In Brighton, we'll start practices on Wed, Sep 3. Remember that this is a break from indoor practice, not a break from training. You should continue your conditioning by cross training. You can skate outdoor, cycle, run, walk, hike, swim, lift weights, practice yoga, learn to bellydance, log some time on the elliptical, or take some Spinning classes. It matters less exactly what you do than that you do some type of training so you'll be ready to go when the new season begins. Talk to your coach if you'd like specific suggestions for off season training.
Also, during the break we'll have an end of season team party - Sat, Aug 9, 11-2 at the Brighton rink. Bring a dish to share and your skates. I hope everyone will be able to come.
I want to congratulate everyone for working so hard this year. It's been an exciting season. We're all skating better than ever. Anthony has brought in lots of new young skaters in Cheyenne, Dave has built a strong program in Pueblo, and in Brighton Michael has helped us take our skating to a new level. We are a team to be proud of. Good luck to everyone at Nationals - skate fast, turn left, and have fun! Whether you win a place on the podium or not, I know that all of you will perform like champions.

Thank you,
Randy

ELECTIONS FOR CLUB OFFICERS

Nominations for club officer positions (president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer) for the 2008-2009 season are now being accepted. You can nominate yourself or someone else by notifying Shannon, no later than July 25. If you nominate someone other than yourself, please first verify that he/she would be willing to accept the position if elected.
Elections will begin July 27 when a list of the nominees for each position is posted on the listserve. If you do not have access to the listserve, please contact Dave, Anthony, or Shannon for the information. Beginning as soon as the nominees names are posted, ballots can be emailed, snail mailed, phoned, or handed in person to Shannon. You can also turn in your vote at the beginning of the team party on Aug 9. At noon on the day of the party (one hour after the party start time), the election will close and no additional ballots will be accepted. The ballots will be counted and the winners announced immediately.
Officers must be USARS members. All skaters and coaches who hold a Rocky Mountain Racing USARS card are eligible to run. Coaches and skaters are eligible to vote if they hold an RMR card for the current season or have practiced regularly this season with RMR (but do not hold a card). Skaters who hold a card for another team may not vote. Each skater/coach has one vote and parents may vote on their child's behalf.
